Thanks to hard fought efforts from Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver, Jacksonville was awarded an NFL team in late 1993 and changed the future of Duval County forever. In just 19 and a half months, the old Gator Bowl was demolished to make way for the Jags first kickoff on September 3, 1995.
