Located in the north eastern region of Duval County is the historic Big Talbot Island. Having eroded over thousands of years, 30-foot bluffs were formed, and toppled trees were deposited onto the beach. With constant saltwater exposure and bleached by the sun, the trees become white and bone-like, which led to the nickname "Bone Yard Beach."
